JOB DESCRIPTION

A Personal Service Attendant at Palisades on The Glen is responsible for providing assistance with personal care, socialization, emotional support, and related health services to clients to maintain the activities of daily living needs. The PSA is responsible for monitoring and reporting changes in the client’s behaviour and condition.

Responsibilities and Essential duties:

  • Receives direction, assignment and evaluation of work from the shift supervisor.
  • Assists with residents’ personal care and daily living needs as scheduled.
  • Reports any changes in a residents’ physical, mental or emotional condition to the supervisor.
  • Answers call bells promptly.
  • Notifies shift supervisor in the event of an emergency and assists in implementing emergency interventions as delegated by the supervisor on duty.
  • Maintains tidiness and cleanliness of all equipment, storage and work areas.
  • Practices infection control protocol.
  • Participates in all mandatory training sessions.
  • Adheres to the Employee Standards and ORCA Code of Ethics.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 level education (GED Accepted)
  • PSW or HCA certificate
  • Certificate in First Aid and CPR recommended
  • Good communication skills

Hours of work:

  • Variable shifts.
  • Available every other weekend.

Sous Chef

Full-Time

(37.5/Week)

Reports to Executive Chef and Managing Director

Under the direction of the Executive chef, the Sous Chef is responsible for the overall smooth operation of the kitchen and the outstanding food quality and service through Teamwork, Motivation and Strong Leadership.

The Sous Chef will also be responsible and accountable for:

Kitchen Operations
Staff Management and Employee Relations
Budgeting and Administration
Health and Safety Compliance
Resident Relations and Quality Assurance
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef which include weekend and/or evening shifts.
Requirements:

One (1) year experience working in a high end dining establishment. Preferences will be given to those who have previously worked in a Retirement Community setting.

High School diploma / GED accepted.

Ability to motivate, encourage Team

Strong service orientation with demonstrated knowledge of all types of dining room service.
Self starter with the ability to work with little or no supervision
Excellent written and oral communication skills (English)
Excellent problem solving skills, decision making skills, strong attention to detail with the ability to implement strategic goals.
Proven leadership abilities with a diplomatic and approachable management style.

Ability to prioritize and respond with a sense of urgency when required.
